Norse Wines
est. 2000

Just 3km north of Gin Gin on the Bruce Highway. Norse Wines is an easy place to find and a delightful way to break a long journey up or down the coast. Just a few hundred metres from the higway you will find the shady cellar door with its friendly and helpful staff. Feel free to use the BBQ if you want to stop for lunch and don't forget to try our wines! We always have time for a chat and we actively aim to educate our visitors on how to taste and appreciate our boutique wines.

Thomas Janstrom
Wine Maker

Thomas Janstrom is the full-time wine maker at Norse Wines. Thomas has spent many years at Charles Sturt University and the University of Adelaide studying the complex process of turning simple grape juice into wine. That hard work and dedication is now beginning to turn into a successful career with two northern hemisphere vintages under his belt; 2001 in traditional Southern France at La Boume and 2002 in California for Clos du Val. The next natural step is to apply those professional techniques to the Norse Wines vintages.

Peter Janstrom
Vineyard Manager

Raised in chilly Denmark and then moving to sunny Townsville in 1983, Peter Janstrom is not your average Viticulturalist. A clasically trained architect, Peter first developed his love of viticulture while his son Thomas was studying in Adelaide. Inspired to begin studying himself, Peter has developed as a deep understanding of Australian conditions and how to obtain the best grapes from our challenging climate.

Diana and Cathrine Janstrom
Cellar Staff

Norse Wine's cellar door staff are also Janstrom family members. Fully trained in wine tasting and in the fine art of presenting a wine in its finest light.

They are the very friendly public face of Norse Wines and are responsible for ensuring that every visitor leaves feeling that they know that little more about wine in general and about the wines of the Lower Burnett region in particular.
